"Late last night, officials with the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force arrested Patrick Paul George in Valdosta, Georgia. George was arrested for Obstruction of Justice to First Degree Murder in connection with the murder of Cory Sonnier," said Major Ginny Higgins.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office had a warrant for George for obstruction of justice to first degree murder.
Sonnier was found dead on June 24, 2011 at the Lake Martin Boat Landing.
During the investigation, Higgins said detectives learned George was possibly in Geor
gia or somewhere along the I-10 corridor. "Authorities with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office first learned George was frequenting casinos along the I-10 Corridor.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Investigators along with the U.S. Marshall's Office in Lafayette later determined that George was in Valdosta, where he was subsequently apprehended at about 11:00 p.m. on July 7, 2011," said Higgins. George will be extradited back to Louisiana.
Authorities are still looking for David James Anderson, Jr. who is wanted for questioning in connection with Sonnier's murder.
Anderson was with George in Georgia and Georgia authorities are looking for him. Anderson is also wanted by the Lafayette Drug Court System.
If anyone has information on Anderson's whereabouts, they are asked to contact 911 or the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-394-3071.
