KINDER – The Crowley Pinto Americans captured the 2011 Section Tournament title this weekend with a 16-11 victory over tournament host Kinder in the If Necessary game.

The Americans defeated Iota in the first game of the tournament and Kinder in their second outing to advance to the finals.

Kinder battled its way through the loser’s bracket by eliminating the Crowley Nationals and Iota before knocking off the Americans, 12-7, to force the deciding game.

Both the Americans and Kinder will advance to the Pinto Super Regional this weekend in Loreauville.

Mustang All-Stars

JENNINGS – The Crowley Mustang Americans got off to a slow start in the 2011 Sectional Tournament, dropping a 13-12 decision to Church Point in their opening game Friday.

But the Americans battled back, defeating the Crowley Nationals, 12-2, the following day before eliminating Iota (13-2) and Jennings (20-3) to reach the finals.

Crowley took on Church Point last night at 6 p.m. and had to win twice to claim the championship.

Regardless of the outcome, the Americans will advance to the Mustang Super Regional that begins Friday in Erath.

Bronco All-Stars

EUNICE – In Bronco action, the Iota All-Stars are undefeated after victories over Iowa , the Crowley Americans and the Crowley Nationals.

The Americans beat Kinder and Welsh before falling to Iota, 14-4, in the winner’s bracket finals while the Nationals have wins over Jennings , Eunice and Welsh along with the loss to Iota.

The Americans and the Nationals squared off in the loser’s bracket finals last night with the winner advancing to play Iota for the championship.

Softball All-Stars

CROWLEY – The Crowley 14U and 12U All-Star teams placed second in their respective divisions this past weekend in the Regional Tournament at the Crowley Recreation Department.

However, despite qualifying, nether team will advance to the National Tournament next weekend in Round Rock, Texas .

Crowley’s 12U All-Stars placed third and is also eligible to advance to Nationals but it is unknown as of press time if they will attend the tournament.
