CROWLEY - Weekly bible study at Southwind Assisted Living is one of the ministries of First Baptist Church of Crowley. Reverend Roger Tarver strives to find ways for his members to minister to others and honor the Lord.

In 2008 he and a group of First Baptist Church members began a Bible study in which Sunday school teachers rotate each week, teaching the lessons from the previous Sunday, to residents at Southwind Assisted Living every Tuesday morning.

The participating teachers are Pat Andrepont, Kurt Buescher, Ron Lawson, Kenneth Richard and Peggy Sandidge who substitutes. Occasionally Roger Tarver and Jimmy Meche also participate.

The sessions always begin with music. Reverend Larry Evans leads the group in singing several hymns, accompanied by Jackie Buescher on the keyboard. Elaine Simon and Joanna Pruitt serve as substitute pianists.

Kenny Richard enlivens the singing with his gospel songs, accompanying himself on his guitar. His jovial quips also add to the happy atmosphere.

Several church members are usually also in attendance in addition to residents of Southwind Assisted Living.

First Baptist Church is located at 228 E. Fourth St. and the office can be reached at 783-0441.
