HOUMA – Long-time maritime and personal injury attorney Louis St. Marin died after his airplane crashed Sunday at Brookings, Ore.

St. Martin, 63, was flying a single-engine, four seat plane alone when it crashed in a grove of trees. Bad weather may have played a role.

According to his brother Michael, also a prominent attorney, St. Martin died early Tuesday.

He had gone to Oregon to pick up his recently purchased plane and fly it back to Houma, said his brother.
