LAKE CHARLES – An ankle injury suffered at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede last year hampered Midland’s Michael Primeaux for the majority of his junior year in 2010.

That injury has healed and it was quite evident Saturday at this year’s Cowboy Stampede.

Primeaux finished the 5K run in a time of 16:33 to win the event in a field of over 100 competitors.

His showing also helped lead the Rebels to a third-place finish overall behind Class 5A Barbe and Class B Anacoco.

Floyd Baker ran a time of 18:26 to finish at No. 22 while Chase Vincent came in at No. 27 with a time of 18:30.

Also scoring for the Rebels were Steven Primeaux (No. 32, 19:02), Devin Gautreaux, (No. 37, 19:07.32), Randy Primeaux (No. 39, 19:11), Alan Vondenstein (No. 47, 19:33) and Layton Meaux (No. 108, 23:45).

Midland returns to action Wednesday at Bell City .
