Marksville officer held on two rape counts

MARKSVILLE – A Marksville police officer has been arrested in Rapides Parish on two counts of aggravated rape. He has been placed on leave without pay from the Marksville Police Department pending the outcome of the case.

Lt. Derrick S,tafford, 28, of Marksville and a four-year veteran of the Marksville Police Department was arrested on Friday, October 7, after a Grand Jury in Rapides Parish handed down the indictment on both counts of rape.

Marksville Police Chief Ellis Walker on Monday said he was called by the U.S. Marshal’s Service on Friday telling him of the warrant. Lt. Stafford turned himself into Rapides parish authorities later on Friday. He is being held in the Rapides Parish Jail under a $300,000 bond.
