The Northside Community Center was the setting on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 for a birthday party held in honor of Beatrice Nixon of Rayne, who turned 98 years of age.

The former Beatrice Harmon was born Oct. 8, 1913 to the late Elizabeth and Avery Harmon.

She is the mother of Sam Nixon, Georgia St. Julian, Leroy Nixon, Delia Price, Ora Lee Young, L.J. Nixon, Georgia Cooper and Isacc Nixon.

She is also proud of 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The 1 p.m. birthday celebration was hosted by Mrs. Nixon’s children and grandchildren. Guest were treated to a delicious barbecue with all the trimmings and desserts.

The decor for the celebration included pink, green and white floral arrangements found throughout the hall.

Family members and friends attended the party from Rayne, Crowley and Breaux Bridge.
