An evening of celebration will be provided with music and a cash bar after the presentation of the 2012 Grand Court.
Formal attire (tuxedo and floor length ball gown) is required for this event. Participants may provide food for their table, if they wish.
Traditionally, Mardi Gras balls are given by Krewes or secret societies and one must be invited by someone, know someone who knows someone or be lucky enough to be able to attend.
This ball is not sponsored by a Krewe nor a secret society, but rather by a committee that is providing residents the opportunity to partake in an annual event that will benefit the Rayne Chamber of Commerce, as well as high school graduates of 2012 and future graduates of the community. The Rayne Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization, does not only promote local businesses; the organization also gives scholarships to outstanding local graduates!
The Ball with a theme of “Justice, Faith and Power,” will be held January 14, 2012, at the Civic Center in Rayne.
Organizers point out the community does not have any events that celebrate, the most elaborate holiday season in Louisiana, Mardi Gras.
There are also minimal events to recognize local youth and outstanding citizens of Rayne. This event will not only allow the community to enjoy the festivities of Mardi Gras, but it will also recognize individuals who are outstanding members of society.
Nominations for the Grand Court and King and Queen titles will be accepted until December 1, 2011.
If anyone would like to submit a nomination, simply download and fill out the nomination form and email to: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominees for court members need not be residents of Rayne, but must be in the fifth through 12th grades and have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.
Nominees for king and queen do not have to be residents of Rayne, but should be outstanding members of the community over the age of 21. In addition, their contributions to the city should be considered.
The ball committee envisions a prestigious court, and nominations will be important in this selection.
Those chosen to serve on the Grand Court will be notified by December 7, 2011.
Tickets are $30 each and can be obtained by mailing a check payable to the Rayne Chamber of Commerce, to 107 Oak Street, Rayne, La. 70578. Payments can also be made using credit cards
When payments are received tickets will be mailed.
