One killed when struck by car fleeing Rayne Police Department

A 38-year-old man was killed when a person who was fleeing from Rayne police struck a car from behind carrying two people near the Chevron Station near the East Crowley exit. The accident occurred near the intersection of Oddfellows Rd. and Hwy. 1111

Initial reports say that the driver of the car that was struck was killed and the passenger escaped with minor injuries. The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday morning.

There will be more on this story as information is available.

The person who was fleeing the police was caught and charges are pending.

It is unknown at this time why the person was fleeing the police.

The Crowley Police Department is investigating the accident. Also responding was Acadian Ambulance, Acadia Sheriff Dept., Crowley Fire Department and the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office
