Northside Christian slips past Lafayette Christian Academy

CROWLEY – Northside Christian improve to 4-2 on the season Tuesday with a dramatic 67-65 home victory over Lafayette Christian Academy.

LCA led by three points with two minutes remaining, but Northside rallied to tie it before forcing a turnover that resulted in a layup in transition by Kade Miller for the eventual game winner.

LCA had one last chance to tie the game with two seconds remaining but a desperation shot was batted away.

Ben Rogers paced the Warriors with 16 first-half points and finished the night with 21. B.J. Starks followed with 15 points and Tracy Wiliridge scored 10.

Also contributing in the victory were Josh Wheeler and Joseph Trahan with six points each, Miller with five and Nick Gotte with four.

In the opening game, the NCS Lady Warriors defeated LCA, 52-27.

Natalie Hayes led the Lady Warriors, pouring in a game-high 31 points. She was followed by Madi Clement with nine points and Brooke Stanford with seven. Maddi Conrad and Kristen Spell rounded out the scoring with four and two points, respectively.

The Warriors and Lady Warriors will be in action again when they participate in the Hathaway Tournament this evening.
