Lafayette – The Realtor® Association of Acadiana Disaster Relief Fund, a fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana, made a grant of $2,000 to the Rayne Tornado Long-Term Recovery Coalition to aid victims from the March 5 tornadoes in Acadia Parish. 

The check presentation was held at the Realtor® Association of Acadiana’s office on 1819 West Pinhook Road on November 17. 

 Paula Duncan, president of The Realtor® Association of Acadiana said, “The Realtor® Association of Acadiana is blessed as an organization and it is a blessing for us to pay it forward to someone else. We hope that the contribution will have a positive impact in the lives of those in need.”

 Those in attendance of the November 17, the check presentation were:  Mary Jane Bauer (CEO, RCE of the Realtor® Association of Acadiana and Community Foundation of Acadiana Board Member), Eric Guidry (COO of Community Foundation of Acadiana), Angela Morrison (Rayne Long-Term Recovery Coalition Executive Committee member and United Way of Acadiana’s Chief of Community Impact), Tony Credeur (Rayne Long-Term Recovery Coalition Executive Committee member and Acadiana Red Cross’ Community Chapters Executive), Polly Koury (United Way of Acadiana’s Disaster Response & Recovery Coordinator), Troy Hebert, Lisa Roy Sheppert, Lori McCarthy, David Gleason, Don Perron, Flint Zerangue, Cindy Herring, Paula Duncan, Angi Trahan, Steven Hebert and Virginia Sealy.

 The Rayne Tornado Long-Term Recovery Coalition, composed of church and community volunteer organizations such as Knights of Columbus Council and Musique Relief Jam, Rayne Disaster Relief, Inc., Community Foundation of Acadiana, United Way of Acadiana and the American Red Cross, created a recovery fund to contain donations to help victims affected by the tornadoes in Acadia Parish.  The Fund is dedicated to assist the unmet needs of residents in the storm-damaged area such as assisting in re-housing displaced families and the restoration of homes damaged by the storms.

 The Rayne Tornado Long Term Recovery Coalition has collected $71,000 in cash donations.   All of the donations have been spent to assist families in the long term recovery process.
