The noon Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr. Clint Trahan.
The bride is the daughter of Daniel and Charlotte Kahanek of Opelousas. She is the granddaughter of Fannie Genin of Opelousas. A graduate of Acadiana Preparatory School and The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is presently a student at LSU Medical School in New Orleans.
The groom is the son of Dr. Neal and Susan Duhon of Rayne. His grandparents are Doris Duhon of Abbeville and Lawrence LeBlanc of Rayne. A graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he is employed as a nurse at Lafayette General Medical Center.
During the Nupial Mass, gifts were presented by Melissa and George Thompson and Dawn Kahanek.
Musical selections were provided by Valorie Andrus.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a diamond white “Janelle” creation by Maggie Sottero. Swarovski crystals detailed the gown’s bodice that featured a sweetheart neckline and a ruched effect above a full skirt. Her headpiece was a single tier veil of sheer illusion lined at the hem with Swarovski crystals.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Kristen Kahanek.
Bridesmaids were Annalee Sylvester and Bridgette Mistrot, friends of the bride.
Serving as flower girl was Kayla Duhon, the groom’s godchild.
Attending the groom as best man was his brother, Jude Duhon.
Groomsmen were Jason Duhon, cousin of the groom, and Elliot Gilbert, friend of the groom.
Ring bearers were Kamron Kahanek and Daniel Thompson, nephews of the bride.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds at The Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Fezzo’s in Scott.
