Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon advises that there are still a few roads closed in the parish due to water backing up into Bayou Mallet, Bayou Plaquemine and the Mermentau River the result of Monday night’s heavy rains.

At present the following roads have been closed effective Thursday, January 12, 2012.

Ohlenforst Road & Stephanie Road have been closed due to high water on the road near Robert's Cove.

The Pontoon Bridge located Hwy 91 near Estherwood has been closed due to water on the bridge and roadway.

Acorn Hill in northern part of the parish near Eunice has been reduced to one lane from Bayou Mallet to Prudhomme Hwy due to water on roadway.

Indigo Road at Morrow Road has been closed as the road is located near Bayou Plaquemine and is overflowing and impassable.

Melancon stated that while these closures may be a inconvenience to motorist he is asking that you choose an alternate route.
