CROWLEY — Funeral services for Mrs. Batiste Motte, the former Bertha Vaniel, 80, will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Rodless LeLeaux will officiate. Interment will follow in Estherwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Motte passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:20 a.m. in a Crowley hospital.

A native of Mermentau, and lifelong resident of Acadia Parish, Mrs. Motte had been a resident of Camelot of Crowley for several years.

Survivors include her brother, Phillip Vaniel of Rayne; sister-in-law, Zelia Hebert of Duson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mrs. Motte in death were her husband, Batiste Motte; parents, Francis and Julianne Istre Vaniel; sisters, Edmae Guillory, Melline LeJeune, and Elzine Vaniel; and brothers, Charlie Vaniel, Adam Vaniel, Victor Vaniel, and Abner Vaniel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley, with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8 a.m.. until service time in the funeral home.
