---
ACADIANA – Heavy rains have caused motorists in Acadiana a lot of trouble this morning with multiple accidents along Interstate 10 and submerged vehicles along Interstate 49.
Motorists along these routes and on all roads today are reminded to use extreme caution and not to drive through deep water.
Specifically along I-49, milepost 8-9, both northbound and southbound lanes have water. Delays should be expected and Louisiana State Police Troop I say that detours like LA 93 can be used for southbound traffic and LA 182 for northbound traffic.
Alternative routes are available.
Part of Acadia Parish is under a flood watch until noon. The areas of Branch, Church Point and Mire have been highlighted in this weather alert.
There are also reports of water as high as three feet in the Church Point and St. Landry Parish.
