JENNINGS – A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mermentau on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. honoring the life of Edmae Woods, 100, who was called to her Heavenly Father April 11, 2012 while in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Woods will be laid to rest in the Hanks Cemetery. Father Clint Trahan will be officiating her services.

Edmae was born in Morse on July 29, 1911 to the late John and Edmonia Dugas Leger. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her beloved family. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, and serving coffee to her family and friends.

Edmae is survived by one son, Dominique Woods Jr. (Betty) of Morse; and four daughters Laura Zaunbrecher of Gueydan, Mary Dommert of Carlyss, June Zaunbrecher (Richard “Top”) of Gueydan and Sally Cormier (Roy) of Mermentau.

She was a loving wonderful grandmother to 31 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.

Edmae now rests in Heaven with her beloved family whom preceded her in death: her parents, John and Edmonia D. Leger; her husband, Dominique Woods Sr.; three sisters, Zema Humble, Alice Boullion, and Agatha Chaisson; and two sons-in-law, Frederick Zaunbrecher and Buddy Dommert.

Carrying Edmae to her eternal resting place in the Hanks Cemetery will be John Zaunbrecher, Brian Cormier, John Woods, Richard Zaunbrecher, Tony Dommert and Kevin Zaunbrecher. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Woods and the rest of her grandsons.

Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, April 12 from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited by Deacon Summers at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.
