ONEONTA, Ala. – ULM's Ali Lucas and Lina Lagergren finished the first 36 holes of the Samford Women's Intercollegiate in the top-10 of the field to pace the women's golf team Monday. The Warhawks are tied for third place overall on the par-72, 6,039 yard Limestone Springs Golf Club.

Lucas, a former Notre Dame standout, fired the day's low round of two-under-par 70 to sit atop the pack entering the afternoon, but stumbled to end with 79 and tie for fifth at 149 total. Samford's Natalie Mitchell, who is competing as an individual, came in with the only other sub-par score, a 71, to claim the lead after two rounds with 143.

Lucas is coming off a sixth place finish at the UALR Women’s Golf Classic late last month where she shot a 220 total. She finished just five strokes off of Middle Tennessee’s Karisha Akin, who earned medalist honors with a round of one-under par 71.

It was Lucas’ fourth Top-10 showing out of eight tournaments during the 2011-12 season.

Despite playing with just four Warhawks in the lineup in the Samford tournament, ULM put together rounds of 303 and 307 to tie with host Samford at 610 total. Florida Southern and Middle Tennessee carded identical low rounds of 298, but the Lady Mocs edged the Blue Raiders in the second round to lead by two strokes with a combined 601.

Lina Lagergren finished the day a stroke behind Lucas with 150 total to tie for ninth overall. She and teammate Ines Fendt both shot rounds of two-over-par 74, with Fendt's coming in the second round to bounce back from an opening 81 and tie for 21st overall.

Consistency was key for Emily Stratton, who carded identical scores of 78 to total 156 and tie for 33rd. Jennifer Park withdrew as a precaution to protect an ailing knee.

The Warhawks teed off for the final round of the Samford Women's Intercollegiate yesterday but results were not available at press time.
