Wolves Continue With District Wins

The Rayne High Wolves belted out 10 hits and 11 runs Thursday over Church Point for another district win what is turning out to be a very successful 2011-2012 baseball season.

The 11-1 win over the Bears brings the Wolves to 7-2 in district play with two contests remaining before post-season.

As of today’s power ranking, the Wolves climbed to #26, their only two district losses coming against #3-ranked Livonia.

The Wolves were scheduled to face Eunice Tuesday, but was delayed until Wednesday due to weather conditions. They will complete their regular schedule of games today (Thursday) as they travel to Westminster.

Finald district standings are due Monday, April 23, with state brackets slated to be released April 25th.

In Thursday’s win, Tyler LeJeune collected the win on the mound for the Wolves tossing five strikeouts as he faced 26 batters. He allowed only two walks and four hits.

On offense, Grant Menard cleared the fence with a homerun, in addition to a double and four RBI’s.

Matt Dore (1-4) and Grant Abshire (1-3) each donated a double towards the win. Teammate Tyler Jeune had two doubles on the day, along with an RBI and two hits of five at bat.

Completing the offensive barrage for the Wolves were Hunter Keely (1-5, RBI), Brice Meche (2-5, RBI), Gannon Quebedeaux (2-5, RBI), Kameron Falcon (1-3) and Jake Stelly (RBI).
