Byron Foote, chairman of the car show sponsored by the Rayne Chamber of Commerce, reports a total of 113 trophies will be awarded.
“Everything is lined up and ready to go,” exclaimed Foote, who hopes to have 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles competing for trophies.
The entry fee for car show competitors will be $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Check-in time will begin from 8 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday.
The car show will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with awards to be presented at 4 p.m.
Spectators will be admitted to the car show free of charge.
Foote anticipates good weather for both competitors and spectators.
Show cars valued as much as $80,000 featuring classics, flashy street machines, hot rods and motorcycles will be displayed throughout the Rayne Fairgrounds and Pavilion (located just off I-10).
Visitors are not only given the opportunity to view some of the region’s finest cars, but also sample the region’s culinary crawfish talents while visiting vendors specializing in the auto and motorcycle industries.
Food and drink items will include crawfish etouffee, $5; boiled crawfish,$6 BBQ hamburgers, $3; beer, $2; and soft drinks, $1.No ice chests or pets please.
Wheelin’ N Peelin’ t-shirts will be available for $15 and $17 for XXL
People’s Choice judging ($1 per vote) take place in over 19 classes of auto/motorcycle and specialty categories.
The vehicle and teams with the most votes in the respective classes will bring home trophies for first, second and third place finishes.
RV parking is available on-site and can be reserved by contacting Rayne City Hall at 337-334-3121 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
