Police Chief Carroll Stelly reports his officers made two recent arrests on drug charges.

On Sunday, May 13, Falius Lewis was arrested for two warrants from the Rayne Police Department for Distribution of Marijuana and Transactions involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses.  His bond was set by Judge Jim Cunningham at $15,000.

At the time of his arrest at Shop Rite in Rayne, Falius had marijuana in his possession; therefore, he faces an additional charge of Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Chief Stelly stated that this is one of many local drug dealers who will be rounded up over the next couple of weeks for distributing drugs after a prolonged undercover investigation.

On May 12, Kelvin Madison, a 24 year old black male, was arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base, Resisting an Officer and Obstruction of Justice.  Madison is currently on parole for prior drug charges and will be held pending a revocation hearing to revoke his parole status.
