International barbecue contest to benefit Boy Scout Troop 425

EUNICE - Rain or shine, June 8 and 9 there will be a barbecue by the beach in Eunice.

Benefitting the Boy Scout troop and Crew No. 425, activities include the “Greatest Hamburger in Louisiana" competition, swimming, children’s activities, a raffle, vendor booths and a barbecue cook off with an awards presentation for first through 10th place, grand champion and reserve champion.

Categories include best sauce, brisket, pork spare ribs, chicken, pulled pork and “Kids Q.”

Participants must cook in three main categories to be qualified for the grand champion award as presented by the International Barbecue Cookers Association.

The event will culminate with an evening barn dance with Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns performing.

The event will take place at Lake View Park and Beach at 1717 Veterans Memorial Highway in Eunice. Campsites and recreational vehicle sites are available for the two day event.
