CROWLEY - Kirsten Nichole Meche of Iota and Travis Shane Steen of Mandeville are engaged to be married at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley. Father Jared Suire will officiate the 7 p.m. ceremony.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jeffery and Kathleen Meche of Iota. She is the granddaughter of Gene “Russell” and Linda Meche of Crowley and the late Otis and Tester Primeaux, formerly of Crowley.

Kirsten is a 2008 graduate of Iota High School. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) with a Bachelor of Arts in speech-language pathology. She was also a member of the ULL track and field team during the 2008-2012 seasons. Kirsten will be attending Southeastern Louisiana University for graduate school while in pursuit of a Master of Science in speech-language pathology.

The prospective groom is the son of Douglas and Regena Steen of Iota. His grandparents are Betty Doucet of Iota and the late Gerald Doucet and Catherine “Cathy” Steen of Iota and the late Willy “Billy” Steen Jr.

Travis is a 2007 graduate of Iota High School and he is a 2011 graduate of ULL with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. He is currently employed at Audobon Engineering in Metairie.

After their weeding, Kirsten and Travis will reside in Mandeville.
