Each month, five student-athletes are recognized for their academic improvement, dedication and proven ability on the field. In addition, one student-athlete is chosen through LSU’s Student-Athlete Affairs program for their volunteerism and commitment to the community.
June’s student-athletes of the month are Alex Boulet (Softball), Tyler Hanover (Baseball), Barkevious Mingo (Football), Chase Clement (Football) and Mckenzie Fox (Gymnastics). Brittany Mack (Softball) was selected as the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS/Student-Athlete Affairs Athlete of the Month.
Boulet, a former Notre Dame standout, is majoring in math with a focus on secondary education.
A sophomore outfielder from Crowley, Boulet recently competed in the Women’s College World Series, where her impressive grades earned her the NCAA’s Elite 89 Award. The honor is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA amongst the eight programs at the WCWS. On top of that, Boulet was also named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2011.
On the field, Boulet was primarily used as a pinch runner during the 2012 season. She played in 34 games, started one, and was successful on 12 of her 15 steal attempts. She scored nine times.
As a walkon freshman in 2011, Boulet made 51 appearances for the Lady Tigers, including 16 starts between right field and center field. She scored 14 times and went 19-for-24 in the stolen base department. Her 19 steals ranked second on the team and 10th in the SEC.
Boulet was a four-year letterwinner for former Tiger Lauren Delahoussaye at Notre Dame where she stockpiled a quartet of All-District honors from 2007-10. She earned All-State accolades in 2010 after she helped lead the Lady Pios to the Class 3A state championship.
Boulet was also a four-year member of the Principal’s List at Notre Dame and she also lettered four years in volleyball, basketball and track.
