DONALDSONVILLE – Services will be Friday for retired sugar cane farmer Albert Allee. He died June 19 at age 76.
He farmed in St. James Parish and was a 35-year supervisor of the Lower Delta Soil and Water Conservation District and chairman for 10 years of the Louisiana State Soil and Water Committee and a member of the West St. James Farm Bureau board for 42 years.
Survivors include a son and three daughters.

Former school super
MORGAN CITY – Services for former school superintendent and ULL professor Dr. Ronald Perry, Sr. will be Friday. He died June 19 at age 84.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a teacher, principal and school superintendent in Pennsylvania and Virginia before becoming superintendent of St. Mary Parish public schools. He retired as professor of education at ULL.
Survivors include his wife Margaret, three sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Hargrave.
A 'Steel Magnolia'
TYLER, Texas – Services for Barbara Thames, former Northwestern State professor and one of the real “Steel Magnolias” of Natchitoches, La., will be Saturday. She died June 18 at age 82.
She held degrees in music and math from Centenary University, where she was class salutatorian. She taught math at the high school and college levels and was former chairman of the Natchitoches Christmas Festival.
Widowed at age 30 with a young child and expecting another, she was among the subjects for the famous play and movie based on Natchitoches residents.
Survivors include three sons.

Missionary-librarian
SHREVEPORT – Services for missionary and librarian Vivian Holder will be Friday. She died June 16 at age 74.
She worked for several public libraries before earning degrees in theology and religious education. She was appointed a missionary by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1968 and served for 30 years as librarian in seminaries in Switzerland, Liberia, West Africa, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand.
Survivors include two sisters.
