Funeral Services will be Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Mary T. Venable, 89, who passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1:30 AM at the Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.  Very Rev. Msgr. Jeff DeBlanc will be officiating the services.

Survivors include, two daughters, Veree Venable of Church Point and Agnella and husband, Robert Taylor of Branch; one son, Clifton “C.J.” Venable, Jr. and friend Mary of Lake Charles; two brothers, Edmond and wife, Jeanette Thibodeaux of Opelousas and Ebenezer Thibodeaux of Lafayette; one special nephew, Leslie and wife, Cecile Thibodeaux of Jennings; one sister, Mattie T. Prejean of Rayne; ten grandchildren, Kiley Brinkman, Ahlea and husband, Trey Richard, Cassie Arabie and Renelle and husband, Phil Doucet, Marissa Taylor, Donielle Brinkman and friend, Bryce Broussard, Tyler Brinkman and friend, Samantha, Corey Venable and Jesse Venable and Nicholas and wife Sarah Guidry; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Richard, Austin Brinkman, Robbie Taylor, Cayden and Jaxon Doucet, Jayden and Anna Guidry; one god child, Cheryl Richard and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Mary was preceded in death by husband, Clifton Venable, Sr.; her parents, Edmond and Agnes Thibodeaux; two brothers, Austin and Iaasac Thibodeaux; two sisters, Imogene Foreman and Tiny Faul; one god child, Patricia T. Stelly.

Ms. Mary, known also as Nanan to some, was the 4-H leader for Church Point Elementary School; Church Point Middle School and Church Point High School for several years. She was a past Den Pak leader for the Cub Scouts.  She worked for Dr. C.L.Keller in her younger life before she started her family.  After she became a stay at home mom, she began enjoying crafts and started a cake business.  She made beautiful wedding, birthday, shower cakes for many.  In her retirement years she enjoyed being with her family, listening to Cajun Music, teaching her grandkids how to do crafts.  Ms. Mary also enjoyed going to flea markets and spent a great deal of her time still baking for her family.

Pallbearers for the service will be, Tyler Brinkman, Corey Venable, Jesse Venable, Nick Guidry, Trey Richard and Kenneth Leger.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM until time of the services on Monday.  A Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 7:00 in the evening in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Old Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home, LLC of Church Point.  Please send personal condolences to the family at www.duhonfuneralhome.com
