VILLE PLATTE – The widow of slain TAT Nail owner Tuc Do was in the front row of the courtroom visitors’ seating area when the jury returned a first-degree murder and armed robbery guilty verdict against Donnie Lee Lafleur.

The jury returned to the courtroom after about an hour of deliberation Thursday.

Sentencing was set for July 19. Lafleur faces life in prison at hard labor.

Lafleur elected not to testify.

According to testimony, Do had locked the front door of the salon when about 8 p.m. on a Saturday last Maya man wearing a bandana mask appeared at the glass door. The first woman to see the man screamed, the robber shot through the door and entered the salon while the three customers and the victim's wife fled into a bathroom and a storeroom.

The widow testified she heard two more shots, went back into the main salon area, and saw the robber shoot her husband in the chest at close range as the two struggled for the cash drawer, and shoot Do again as he tried to hold the robber’s leg.
