Both athletes earned all-conference recognition on the playing field and in the classroom during the past season.
Chretien, who is now a graduate student, won the SLC javelin title during the past season and also finished fifth in the event at the NCAA championship meet with a school record 245-5 toss. He placed 15th in the recent U. S. Olympic trials in Eugene, OR.
Chretien is expected to be named to the all-Louisiana team that will be released later this week. He is a native of Elton.
Baggett, an all-Southland and all-Louisiana basketball selection this past year, ranked second on the team in scoring with a 14.4 average and led the team in assists and three point shooting. She is a native of Iota.
Two athletes (one male and one female) from each of the other schools in the conference were also recognized by the league office.
To be considered athletes had to possess a 3.20 overall grade point average and have been a participant in sports for the past two years.
