This year there were 10 adult categories as well as a couple of children/students categories and Best in Show for children/students and adults and 126 entries.
There will also once again be a “Viewer’s Choice Award” given at the end of the month, voted on by art onlookers.
Categories and divisions include, adult–landscapes/seascapes, portraits/figures, still life/floral, animals/wildlife, experimental, decorative painting, adult student, photography, needle craft and all other–and student divisions–high school, middle school and elementary school.
Winners will receive cash prizes and will be honored at an Awards’ Reception on July 28, 2012 at 6 p.m. All entries will be on display all of this month and voting for the Viewer’s Choice is underway.
Best of Show in Fine Arts and Other Media will receive $400; in the adult categories, first place will receive $75, second place will receive $50, third place will receive $25 and honorable mention will receive a ribbon; Best of Show Student will receive $200; in the student divisions, first place will receive $30, second place will receive $20, third place will receive $10 and honorable mention will receive a ribbon only and the Viewer’s Choice Award will receive $100.
Judges for this year’s event competition were Michael Flaherty of Breaux Bridge, Keith Guidry of Lafayette and Marsha Pellerin of Rayne.
