Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne is warning the public that his deputies will be writing tickets for anyone caught driving north through the Second Street intersection with Park Avenue.

Second Street is a one-way street at the Park Avenue intersection, becoming two-way beginning in the block immediately south of the intersection.

Darbonne said, however, that he and his deputies have observed many occasions where a northbound vehicle will continue on to make a left-hand turn onto Park.

The only acceptable way for a vehicle northbound on Second to travel west on Park is to first take a right heading eastbound, and then take the turnaround by the fire station.

Darbonne said that people making an illegal left-hand turn is causing a serious traffic problem at the intersection.

“The last thing we want to do is to sit there writing citations, but it is getting to be a serious hazard out there,” Darbonne said.
