Man arrested after stabbing roommate

On Sunday July 15, 2012 at 7:48 PM Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the 6300 block of West Congress. Responding deputies were alerted that a stabbing had occurred outside the residence. Deputies were informed that family members were holding the suspect down and that the victim was being transported to the hospital by neighbors.

Deputies arrived to find 28-year-old Shane Jenkins being restrained by family members and took him into custody. Deputies learned through witnesses that Jenkins had stabbed his 28-year-old roommate once in the back for unknown reasons.

The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he is receiving treatment for a single stab wound, he is said to be in guarded but stable condition.

Jenkins was booked into the parish jail with one count of attempted second degree murder and is being held in lieu of $125,000.00 bond.
