KLB Awarded $250,000 in Grants in 2011; Looks to Award More in 2012

BATON ROUGE — Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), the state’s non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to litter prevention and waste reduction, is now accepting applications for its 2012-13 KLB Healthy Communities Grants Program. The deadline to apply for funding from the organization is August 15, 2012. Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 to help fund local projects. Grant applications are to be submitted via the KLB website, and awards will be announced on or before August 31, 2012.

In 2011, KLB awarded $250,000 in grants to community groups around the state.

The KLB Grants Program is designed to help community organizations, governmental agencies, and educational groups implement projects with a specific focus on litter abatement through community education, recycling, enforcement and more. All grantees are required to participate in the Great American Cleanup, which is held March through May 2013, or in America Recycles Day on November 15, 2012.

“We believe in the power of even a small group of Louisianans interested in being proactive with helping keep Louisiana beautiful,” Leigh Harris, KLB Executive Director, said. “We encourage community, service, educational and law enforcement groups to apply through our grants program to receive funding to support the anti-litter projects in their communities.”

A complete list of guidelines, terms and conditions, and eligibility requirements, as well as the application information are available on the KLB website – www.keeplouisianabeautiful.org.

In addition to the grant program, KLB invites applicants to attend the KLB State Conference on Oct. 24-26 in New Iberia, La. Registration for the conference is available on KeepLouisianaBeautiful.org.
