First mini-mester starts Aug. 24, second starts Oct. 5

LAFAYETTE ­– South Louisiana Community College will offer two mini-mesters to accommodate students currently experiencing problems with a new online registration system.

The first mini-mester starts August 24 while the second begins October 5.

Classes are being offered in a number of disciplines including English, general business, educational psychology, algebra, biology, music, and speech. Students can find courses and register for the mini-mesters by selecting the “Class Schedule Search” tab within their LoLA accounts.

The last day to register for a class in the first session is August 27. For the second session, the last day to register is October 8.

Earlier this week, SLCC Chancellor Dr. NatalieHarder announced that registration for the regular fall semester has been extended to August 27. She also noted that Student Services on all SLCC campuses have extended hours.

Advisors and other personnel are available Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, August 18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, August 25 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Campuses are located in Lafayette, New Iberia, St. Martinville, Crowley, Ville Platte, Abbeville and Opelousas.

Also, the deadline to apply for a hardship waiver has been extended. Students in degree and technical programs can apply for a hardship waiver if they cannot cover tuition costsafter exhausting all financial aid awards. Applications must be turned in by Friday, Sept. 7.

No late registration fees will be assessed during the Fall 2012 registration period.
