According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a call around 9 p.m. of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot. Upon arrival responding officers discovered that a 36-year-old Crowley man was shot six times on his upper body when he was exiting his vehicle.
The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to the American Legion Hospital where he was stabilized and later transported by Air Med to a Lafayette hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in intensive care in critical condition.
Witnesses at the scene advised that the shooter was a black male subject wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. According to witnesses he was seen leaving the complex on foot.
As investigators continue to interview witnesses, Sheriff Melancon is asking anyone with information to contact Det. Dennis Fruge at 788-8700 or 789-TIPS.
The Crowley Police Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
