GUEYDAN - The Gueydan Police Department with the assistance of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Department and Louisiana State Police are in the process of investigating a hit-and-run accident along with an abduction that took place late Friday evening, August 24 and early Saturday morning.

Sources told the Gueydan Journal that a 24-year-old Crowley woman went missing at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday after attending the Duck Festival. At approximately 1 a.m. Saturday a man and woman, who were leaving the Duck Festival grounds, were struck and severely injured by a hit-and-run driver. An eye witness told the Gueydan Journal that a dark colored vehicle was spotted leaving the scene. Although initially law enforcement was seeking a white vehicle. An exact color vehicle sought in the investigation has not been conveyed to the officials at the Gueydan Journal.

Acadiana Ambulance Air Med was called in to airlift the hit-and-run victims from the scene where they were brought to Lafayette hospitals.

The missing woman was later accounted for after she walked to a nearby residence seeking medical help. She was treated for abrasions and severe mosquito bites at a local hospital and released.
