Nora Santellana, 42, and Lee Ann Torres, 19, both of 10928 Audelia Road, Dallas, were booked into Ouachita Correctional Center, each on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, illegal use of controlled and dangerous substance in the presence of minors and conspiracy to distribute controlled and dangerous substances.
Authorities stopped the driver of a Dodge Durango with Texas plates on I-20 for a traffic violation.
Deputies said the driver, Torres, did not have a license. She said she was tired and had been driving a long time. The reports stated Torres told deputies she had driven from Dallas to Corpus Christi, Texas, to get asthma medication for one of her passengers and was on the way to Atlanta, Ga. to visit family.
Torres hesitated to answer if there was any illegal narcotics inside the vehicle but said there was not, deputies said. During a search of the vehicle, authorities found two pairs of jogging pants stuffed with packages.
The reports stated the packages had about 22 pounds of suspected cocaine inside them.
Reports stated a juvenile in the vehicle was in the custody of Child Protective Services.
