Ruston's Santa Claus

RUSTON – Services for former police juror and official city Santa Claus Kenneth Martin will be Tuesday. He died at age 82.

He was a U.S. Army infantry veteran of the Korean War and served three terms on the Lincoln Parish Police Jury, being instrumental in the creation of the Lincoln Parish Park and the parish detention center. He was a city electrician for 30 years and its official Santa.

Survivors include his wife Nelwyn and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Owens Memorial.

Greek Orthodox leader

NEW ORLEANS – Services for former chaplain faculty to Xavier and Tulane Universities the Rev. William Gaines will be Wednesday. He died Sept. 14 at age 87.

He was former president of the Greater New Orleans Federation of Churches and also pastored Greek Orthodox churches in Baton Rouge and Biloxi, Miss.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Lake Lawn.

Retired Episcopal priest

ST. JOSEPH – Services for retired Episcopal priest the Rev. Thomas Wade, III will be Tuesday. He died Sept. 13 at age 98.

He was a lawyer and mayor of St. Joseph before entering the U.S. Navy at the outbreak of World War II. After the war, he attended seminary and was ordained. He was rector at churches in DeRidder, Minden, Baton Rouge and Pineville.

Survivors include his wife Alma, a son and a daughter.

Arrangementa are by Young’s, Ferriday.
