State Police said Matthew Kirkheart, 15, died in the collision on La. 164 about 4:30 p.m.
Joshua Kirkheart, 17, was driving the van that for yet undertermined reasons crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Aaron Hickingbottom, 19, of Lubbock, Texas.
Both drivers were critically injured, troopers said.
