CROWLEY - Heidi Lynn Romero of Crowley and Jason Hunter Meaux of Rayne were joined together as man and wife during a 4 p.m. double ring ceremony on Saturday, September 8. Reverend Jimmy Broussard officiated the nuptials at First Presbyterian Church in Crowley.

The bride is the daughter of Stephanie Gotte Romero of Crowley and the late Wilfred James Romero, Jr. She is the granddaughter of Jimmy and Marie Gotte of Crowley, Josephine and Charles Hoffpauir of Crowley and Wilfred, Sr. and Shirley Romero of Rayne.

The groom is the son of Ferdie Meaux of Rayne and Ramona Champagne of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Wanda and Teddy Bertrand of Crowley, Delmar Neil of New Mexico and Theogene and Sable Meaux of Rayne.

Heidi and Jason both graduated high school from Northside Christian School in Crowley in 2009. Heidi is currently employed as an operations specialist at Stokes & Spiehler in Lafayette. Jason is the owner of Forever Farms, LLC, through which he works as a Thoroughbred horse trainer at Copper Crowne Equestrian Training Facility in Opelousas.

Arriving guests were ushered to their seats by Ricky Sonnier, godfather of the bride, and Timmie Bruce, cousin of the groom.

Musical selections for the ceremony were performed by Michelle Harris.

Heidi was escorted to the altar by her brothers, Wilfred “Trey” Romero, III and Dylan Romero.

She looked perfect in a richly textured Galina Signature gown of soft white lace over charmeuse embellished in its entirety with beaded soutache floral detailing. The gown’s strapless sweetheart bodice and fit and flare silhouette combined for a sleek and sophisticated look. The back of the dress featured buttons three-quarters of the way down and flowed into a chapel train.

For her headpiece, the bride selected a mini blusher veil featuring a curly feather and flower detail with a pave crystal center.

Heidi’s handheld bouquet was made of white orchids, calla lilies, and white roses. She carried the spirit of her father by entwining his Grey Wolf Oilfield ring among the flowers. Also entwined was a rosary bracelet made of ruby stones, her father’s birthstone.

The bride’s father’s ring was also used to ensure good luck in the couple’s marriage, representing both “something old” and “something borrowed.” The other traditional items were Heidi’s wedding dress, which served as “something new,” and her wedding shoes, which served as “something blue.”

Heidi’s sister, Heather Romero, attended her as maid of honor. Laticia Meaux, sister of the groom, was her bridesmaid.

The bridal attendants wore sleeveless knee-length dresses of Malibu blue satin. The V-necked bodices ended in ruching-defined natural waistlines.

Heather and Laticia both carried lovely handheld bouquets of cream-colored antique roses.

Aleigha LeBlanc, niece of the groom, served as flower girl. She was escorted by the groom’s nephew, Greyson Martin.

Caleb Bruce, cousin of the groom, served as best man. Cody Bruce, also the groom’s cousin, stood as groomsmen.

The ring bearer was Schoen DesOrmeaux, the bride’s nephew and godson.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride, the former Stephanie Gotte, selected an Adrianna Papell floor-length gown in iridescent charcoal gray chiffon. The surplice bodice featured a pin tucked empire waistline from which the skirt’s interlaced scalloped tiers flowed. Layered flutter sleeves perfectly echoed the skirt’s cascading tiers.

The mother of the groom, the former Ramona Nail, wore a ruched-side wrap dress in orange. The knee-length dress featured a one-shoulder bodice.

Both mothers wore corsages of white rosebuds and stephanotis accented with baby’s breath, pearl sprays and Malibu blue ribbon.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the International Rice Festival Building in Crowley. Lighted tiki torches lined the walkways leading guests into the building. The lobby was transformed into a beach scene with palm trees, beach chairs and a fire pit.

Malibu blue and silver provided the color theme for the reception room, which was decorated throughout with palm trees, seashells and candles. Guest tables were topped with clear crystal bowls holding white pillar candles surrounded by sand and seashells. Tiny white lights adorning the walls gave the room a romantic glow.

The bride’s cake was made of four square tiers decorated with white icing and seashell and pearl accents. Each tier was filled with a different flavor, including pecan praline, Bavarian cream, chocolate and cream cheese. The confection was topped with a silver “M” and served by Joyce Swann, godmother of the bride.

The groom’s cake, featuring a strawberry banana filling, was decorated with white icing and surrounded by chocolate-covered strawberries. It was topped with a silhouette of a horse’s head in honor of the groom’s occupation and stood before a lattice backdrop decorated with pictures of the winning horses trained by the groom shaped into a horseshoe. The cake was served by the groom’s aunt, Danette Bruce.

Out-of-town guests travelled from Arizona, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas and various points throughout Louisiana.

On the Thursday evening prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted at Fezzo’s in Crowley by Ferdie Meaux and Nakita Bellard.

Following a wedding trip to Destin, Florida, the newlyweds will reside in Crowley.
