DERIDDER – Services for high school football legend and former LSU running back Tommy “Trigger” Allen will be Friday. He died Sept. 25 at age 66.
Allen was a three time all-state tailback in high school and still holds the DeRidder High 220-yard dash record. He was a starting player for LSU from 1965 until 1968 and played in the Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl and the first Peach Bowl. He opened the Sears Dealer Store in DeRidder and the Blockbuster Video Store.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, three sons and three daughters.
NEW ORLEANS – Services for long-time Associated Press reporter Mary Foster are pending. She died Sept. 24 at age 68.
She joined the AP New Orleans bureau in 1988 after working at newspapers and television and radio stations. She was one of the first female journalists covering professional sports when she began coverage of the Saints and the NFL.
Survivors include two sons.
