The free event was held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for children 15 years and younger.
A number of activities were enjoyed, including a BB gun shooting contest, archery classes by the Bayou State Bow Hunters Association, and a free skeet show for all adults in attendance along with their children.
Other events will included learning about the D.A.R.E “Just Say No” program, visit with Acadiana Ambulance, and taught safe hunting skills, safe shooting skills and respect for wildlife and the environment.
League instructors and LWF agents were also on hand to answer any questions about hunting and fishing in Louisiana.
Participants were provided free food and drinks, along with hundreds of dollars in prizes and shirts awarded.
Winners in the BB gun contest were:
9-and-under - 1st place Tyler Domingue, 2nd place Robert Simon, 3rd place Ryan Trahan.
10-12 years - 1st place John Leger, 2nd place Dylan Johnson, 3rd place Lane Richard.
13-15 years - 1st place Michael Breaux, 2nd place Hunter Chesson, 3rd place Hunter E.
