Murder suspect Marlon Mott captured in Texas

BEAUMONT, Texas - According to Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson, suspected murderer Marlon J. Mott has been arrested based on a tip they received.

“Our investigators had a tip that he was in the area and with the assistance of Texas authorities we were able to apprehend him today (Saturday),” said Chief Gibson. “He is currently being extradited back to Crowley where he will face homicide charges.”

Mott will be charged with the murder of Greginald Jones, 33, on October 19 in the 500 block of Jacobs Avenue. Jones was shot several times.

Another man was also being sought but was excluded as a suspect on Thursday.

Rumors that the shooting was a a retaliatory killing for another recent shooting were neither confirmed or denied when Chief Gibson spoke to the Post-Signal Saturday afternoon.
