Alyssa Morgan, 12-year-old daughter of Pappy and Christy Morgan of Lafayette, was crowned the 2012-2013 Junior Frog Festival Queen on Saturday, October 27, during the annual pageant held at the Rayne Civic Center by members of Preceptor Alpha Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

The event was open to young ladies 10, 11 and 12 years old with contestants 10 years of age by the pageant and reach her 13th birthday by that same date.

Contestants were asked to wear Sunday dress, a change from last year’s event. The new Rayne Frog Festival Jr. Queen was awarded a crown, banner, silver tray and cape by last year's honoree, Madison Huffman.

Named 1st Maid was Destaneé Breaux, 11-year-old daughter of Amy and Kenneth Breaux of Breaux Bridge. She received a banner and flowers.

Judges for the pageant were Deborah Pettee Denning, 1987 Frog Festival Queen; Jaysie Hebert, the reigning Miss New Iberia; and Jenise Fernandez, television personality of KATC TV-3.

Emcee for the pageant was Cheryl Richard, assisted by PAC members Myrna Constantin, Peggy Wager, Angie Broussard, Danette Arabie and Theresa Prather.

The new queen was also joined by her family for the crowning ceremonies, including her parents, along with brother, Braeden Morgan.

Alyssa will be officially introduced Saturday, Nov. 10, during the 40th Annual Rayne Frog Festival. Hope to see you there!
