Fairview sweeps Midland

GRANT – Fairview proved to be too much for Midland Monday evening as the Panthers and Lady Panthers swept a doubleheader from the Rebels.

Fairview’s Lady Panthers, the six-time defending Class B state champions, jumped out to a 25-2 lead over the Lady Rebels in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 77-32 victory in the first game of the night.

Elizabeth Istre led Midland with six points while Kristen Breaux, Nicole Kraut and Melody Hebert each scored five. Bethany LeJeune, Brooke Comeaux and Kallie Benoit added two points each while Katie Woods finished with two.

In the nightcap, the Panthers went on a 27-12 run in the second quarter and the Rebels were never able to recover as they fell to 1-2 on the season with a 75-62 loss.

Devin Gautreaux paced the Rebels with 16 points. Randy Primeaux added 13 points and eight assists while Jake Gautreaux had 11 points and three steals.

Also contributing were Darren Arceneaux with eight points, Stephen Primeaux and Alan Vondenstein, each with six, and Taatum Rubin with two.
