LHSAA releases initial redistricting plan

CROWLEY - The Louisiana High School Athletic Association's proposed districts for the 2013-14 school years will see a number of teams moving up in clasification, including three from Acadia Parish.

  Crowley High and Rayne will both move from Class 3A to 4A next year, according to new enrollment figures supplied to the LHSAA. Also moving up will be Iota, from 2A to 3A.

  Crowley High and Rayne are projected to be placed in District 4-4A, along with Beau Chene, Eunice, Lagrange, Opelousas and Washington-Marion.

  Iota is slated to play in District 4-3A along with  Iowa, Jennings,  South Beauregard,  St. Louis and  Westlake.

  Notre Dame and Church Point will both remain in 3A and be part of a 5-3A district that includes Northwest, Pine Prairie,  Port Barre and  Ville Platte.

  Midland will remain in Class B and Northside Christian will remain in Class C.

  Midland will be joined in District 6-B by Bell City,  Episcopal of Acadiana, Hathaway and Lacassine.

  Northside will be in District 4 -C by Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, Northside Christian, Reeves,. Singer and Starks.

  The new districts will go into effect starting with the 2013-14 school year.

TheLHSAA will host a meeting November 28 for coaches and athletic directors to present any complaints about the new districts. Once those concerns are taken into account, the final districts will be announced in January.

All Class C schools are Coed Non-Football
