Midland rolls past Northside Christian in Rebels' Homecoming game

MIDLAND – The Midland Rebels went on a 30-8 run in the second quarter and coasted to an 87-38 victory over Northside Christian Thursday evening.

The Rebels improved to 2-2 with the victory. The Warriors fell to 0-5.

Midland jumped out to a 17-8 lead in the first quarter before opening the second frame on a 10-0 run behind back-to-back 3-pointers from Randy Primeaux and Devin Gautreaux.

Alan Vondenstein added 10 points early in the third quarter to help the Rebels extend their lead to 69-26, after which the reserves took over midway through the frame and outscored the Warriors 18-12 in the fourth quarter.

Vondenstein led the Rebels with 25 points while Gautreaux had 16.

Jake Gautreaux also hit double figures with 10 points. Taatum Rubin and Randy Primeaux added eight points each, Stephen Primeaux had seven, Darren Arceneaux had six, Dylan Boudreaux had three and Nick Primeaux had two.

Ty Wilson and Kade Miller each scored in double figures for the Warriors with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Nathan Zeller and Trent Martin each scored five points, Tracey Wilridge had four, Nick Martin added two and Dylan King had one.
