A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Mable Melancon Leger, age 88, who died on Friday, November 9, 2012.

 

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass and will conduct the funeral services.  Lector will be Kayla Link.  Giftbearers will be Parker Link, Eric Wales and Abby Wales.  

 

Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Leger Baughman and her husband, Dr. Charles Baughman of Phoenix, Arizona and Lafayette, Louisiana; and Sabrina Leger Gary of Lexington, Kentucky; one grandchild, Brandi Gary of Lexington, Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Jaedyn and Alexes McCormack of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by a very special niece, Belinda Koon and her husband, Keith of Crowley; a great niece, Kayla Wales Link and her husband, Lance and their children, Gabe, Parker, Ainsley and Sam of Crowley; a great nephew, Eric Wales and his wife, Abby and their son, Jackson of Breaux Bridge.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Leger; her parents, Leodice " L.J" Melancon and the former Eva Rourke, and a sister, Gladys Bourgeois, all natives of Crowley.

 

Mrs. Leger was born on August 5, 1924 in Crowley, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for 35 plus years. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Baughman, Keith Koon, Eric Wales, Lance Link, Wayne Gary and John Wales.

 

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of the Mass.

 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her loving caregivers and friends, Charlotte Downs, Joyce Stockstill and Paula Vidrine and also their heartfelt thanks to Heart of Hospice.
