CROWLEY - Mallory Jane Miller of Crowley and Matthew Troy Gaspard of Sulphur were joined as man and wife during a double ring ceremony on the evening of November 10, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley. Father Jared Suire officiated the 7 p.m. nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Bonnie Hains Miller of Crowley and Michael Miller of Iota.

She is the granddaughter of John E. and Beverly B. Hains of Crowley; and Larry G. and Jackie Miller of Iota.

Mallory graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2006. In 2011, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing from McNeese State University, where she was a member of the McNeese Student Nursing Association. She is presently employed at Jennings American Legion Hospital.

The groom is the son of Denny and Stephanie Russell of Sulphur, and David Gaspard of Eunice. He is the grandson of Ken and Charlotte Carlin of Sulphur.

Matthew is a 2005 graduate of Sulphur High School and a 2009 graduate of Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, where he earned an associate’s degree in corrosion technology. He is currently employed with the Sulphur Police Department.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Ryan Guidry, Andrew Frederick, Brian DeWoody, Kelsey Morris and Cody Abshire, friends of the groom; and Drew Puissegur, cousin of the bride.

Mallory was escorted down the aisle by both of her parents. She looked perfect in a Mori Lee silk shantung gown with an A-line silhouette. The sleeveless bodice featured a V-neckline, and a gold brooch embellished the dress’s empire waist. The brooch, handmade by the bride’s cousin Susan Meaux, was encrusted with pearls and Swarovski crystals. The back of the gown was finished with a row of fabric-covered buttons and flowed into a chapel-length train. For her headpiece, Mallory selected a matching fingertip veil.

The bride carried a gorgeous bouquet of white hydrangeas and carnations interspersed with greenery and hand-tied with burlap.

In keeping with tradition, Mallory carried her mother’s rosary entwined in her bouquet as “something old” and counted her wedding dress as “something new.” A diamond pendant necklace loaned by her maternal grandmother was “something borrowed,” and a blue Blessed Mother medal sewn onto her garter was “something blue.”

Hannah Miller, the sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.

Dr. Elise Puissegur and Holly Miller, both cousins of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Ashley Miller, also a cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid.

The bridal attendants were attired in draped one-shoulder floor-length gowns of crinkle silk chiffon in navy blue. They carried bouquets of white hydrangeas and greenery with burlap-wrapped stems.

Justin Johnson, cousin of the groom, served as best man.

Cody Dearien and Paul England, friends of the groom, stood as groomsmen. The godchild of the bride, John “Trey” Hains III, stood as junior groomsman.

The groomsmen wore heather gray suits with navy ties.

For Mallory’s wedding, her mother, the former Bonnie Hains, selected a floor-length gown with a portrait neckline in peony-colored tiffany chiffon.

The mother of the groom, the former Stephanie Carlin, wore a floor-length slate blue taffeta gown featuring a lace bodice tied at the waist.

Selected scriptures were read by Michelle Puissegur, aunt of the bride, and Kendall Broussard, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated with family and friends at a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Crowley.

The hall was decorated in a rustic theme. Guest tables were covered with white cloths and burlap runners and topped with Mason jars containing silk flowers and votive candles. The gift area was decorated with antique doors and a vintage cabinet.

The centerpiece for the food table was a fruit and vegetable display that has become a family tradition.

The bride’s backdrop was arranged with romantic white drapes, lights and burlap swag, and lighted trees lined the walls.

The bride’s three-tiered buttercream cake was filled with strawberry cream, cream cheese and amaretto cream. Decorated with fresh hydrangeas, the cake also featured traditional Southern cake pulls for the bride’s single friends. The cake was served by Stephanie Hains McBride, godmother of the bride.

The groom’s cake, displayed before a backdrop of three antique doors, was chocolate with chocolate icing. It was topped with a police car in honor of the groom’s profession. It was served by the groom’s aunt, Erica Dearien.

As guests departed, they were given jars of pear jelly, made by the bride’s paternal grandmother and Judy Hoffpauir, as favors. They were displayed on antique wooden boxes and a shelved cabinet featuring photos of the couple’s grandparents on their wedding days.

Out-of-town guests traveled from Florida, Missouri, Texas and various points throughout Louisiana.

On the evening prior to the wedding, Judy and Buddy LeDoux, the groom’s great aunt and uncle, hosted a reception dinner at the outdoor kitchen of Kiisha and Audie Hanks. Guests enjoyed brisket, baked beans, potato salad and rice dressing.

Following their wedding, the couple is residing in Lake Charles.
