WEST MONROE -- The Louisiana Baptist Convention has approved Louisiana College asking for money directly from LBC churches for its capital improvements program.

In October, the LBC executive board approved the Pineville school’s request to make direct appeals to LBC churches to raise a portion of a capital campaign to renovate facilities.

LC President Joe Aguillard said the college has grown by 50 percent over the past six years.

The $12 million is part of the college’s $50 million capital campaign to make improvements across the campus,.

The college can approach the 1,500 LBC churches for $12 million over the next five years.

The $12 million from Baptist churches will be used to improve student housing. Aguillard said every housing unit on campus is to be completely renovated.

The $50 million total campaign is to be collected over 10 to 15 years. The remaining $38 million will go toward academics, athletics and infrastructure, Aguillard said.
