MONROE – Black members of the City School Board hope isolating a member associated with the use of the “N” word in a phone message will cause her to resign.

Vickie Krutzer refused Tuesday to step down after the board aired an employee’s complaint in open session.

The complaint by chief account Devona Howard was over a conversation on Howard’s voice mail.

Allegedly, Krutzer thought she had left a message and hung up, but the recorded conversation included an unidentified man in the background referring to black board members with the disparaging word.

Howard alleged that Krutzer twice agreed with the man.

Board president Verbon Muhammed removed Krutzer as chair of the Finance Committee, saying if the District 2 member is not going resign as requested some members will do their best to isolate her from activities.
