Second GSU student dies from crash injuries

GRAMBLING – A second student has died from injuries in an I-20 accident just hours before fall graduation ceremonies at Grambling State University.

Andrew Perkins, 25, of Shreveport died Sunday morning, State Police said.

He was a passenger in an east-bound car that crossed the median about 12 miles west of Ruston and struck an 18-wheeler. The accident happened at 11:30 p.m.

The cart was driven by Michael Hubbard, Jr., 25, also of Shreveport. He died at the scene. He was to receive his degree in nursing at GSU Friday.
